The research of professor Kenny is internationally renowned and focusses on cardiovascular ageing, with an emphasis on the impact of autonomic pathways on locomotion, vascular integrity and the brain. Professor Kenny is director of the Ageing Research Centre at Trinity College and leads The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).

Professor Kenny established the first dedicated syncope service in Newcastle, UK, in 1992, which has been replicated worldwide. She now heads up the syncope service at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin. Kenny is Fellow of Trinity College Dublin and of the Royal College of Physicians in London, Ireland and Edinburgh, and member of the Royal Irish Academy.
