On 29 June 2026, the University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) hosted a Eurolife Distinguished Lecture by Dr Jacky Goetz, Inserm Research Director and founder of the Tumor Biomechanics Lab, entitled “Caught in the Flow: How Cancer Cells Colonize the Body”. The lecture took place in conjunction with the Eurolife semi-annual meeting, bringing together researchers and representatives from across the Eurolife network.
In his lecture, Dr Goetz presented fascinating insights into the biomechanical mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis, highlighting how mechanical forces, interactions with the vascular system and tumour cell behaviour influence the spread of cancer throughout the body. His research combines advanced intravital imaging technologies with innovative experimental models to better understand tumour dissemination and identify potential new therapeutic approaches.
In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements and contributions to cancer research, Dr Jacky Goetz was awarded the Eurolife Distinguished Medal following his lecture.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and discussion among Eurolife colleagues, reflecting the network’s commitment to promoting research excellence and fostering collaboration across European institutions.
Eurolife extends its sincere thanks to the University of Strasbourg, particularly Dr Catherine Schuster, Dr Joern Pütz and Camille Dieudonne, for hosting and organising this successful event.
